Dr. Hamilton commonly treats patients for shoulder pain. A patient's shoulder can hurt for various reasons, and Dr. Hamilton's goal is to help each patient come up with a diagnosis and treatment plan.
If you see Dr. Hamilton in clinic for shoulder pain, he will ask you questions about the pain, review x-rays, and perform a detailed physical exam. Sometimes, an MRI of the shoulder may be required to help find out the reason for the pain. Some common causes of shoulder pain are rotator cuff tear, shoulder impingement, shoulder osteoarthritis, and cervical spine pain.
After coming to a diagnosis, Dr. Hamilton helps his patients decide on the best treatment plan. Common nonoperative interventions include physical therapy, activity modification, medication, and injections. If nonoperative treatment has failed, then some operative treatments include shoulder arthroscopy (scope), rotator cuff repair, decompression, and shoulder arthroplasty (replacement).
